Me.^500 Julius Figge.

My name is Julius Figge, and I am currently doing my doctorate in the field of IT security and computer science.
As a doctoral student at 'Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation GmbH' I conduct research in 'modelling the deployment process of software in complex environments to prove security properties'. The doctorate itself takes place at Leipzig University.
Before that I worked as the CISO at "klose brothers GmbH" in Bielefeld, Germany. Prior to this position, I worked there full-time as a Software Engineer while pursuing my Master in 'Cyber Security and Digital Forensics' (M.Eng.).
I likewise studied my bachelor as a dual study of 'Applied Computer Science' (B.Sc.) at the FHDW in Paderborn, during work for klose brothers.
At a later stage, I resumed my relationship with the FHDW. I took up a teaching position in the form of an honorary lectureship. This fulfilled my goal of becoming a lecturer at a university before my 25th birthday.

IT-Security and Software Craftsmanship are my passion.
My drive is to do what makes me happy for a living.

Sharing.^500 Knowledge and Expertise.

If you did not know already, I am writing my own blog.
The blog does predominantly focus on IT security, hacking, coding, computer science and related themes.
There will also be occasional articles about my personal projects, cybersecurity related discoveries and -vulnerabilities. I am also documenting my journey of continuous learning and work.
There is no set release schedule, but there is an RSS-feed you can subscribe to.

Passion

Code.^500 Craftsmanship and Hacking.

As part of my employment at klose brothers I gained a lot of experience in agile software development, project management and DevOps. In addition to management and fullstack development of customer projects, my responsibilities included the administration of multiple Kubernetes and Proxmox clusters. At the same time, I was able to pass on my knowledge in the context of consulting activities in the areas of software development and devops.
During my bachelor studies, my second passion developed in the field of IT security. When I found myself absorbing various papers about exploits with great fascination, I knew I had to focus my career and my field of activity on this area. That is why I completed my Master's degree in this field and am now following it up with a doctorate.
At home, I am gaining supplementary knowledge through the administration of my server as well as my own programming projects.

Electronics.^500 Making and Tweaking.

I use my fascination for technology to tinker, not only with software, but also with additional hardware. As exemplary with a macro keyboard, I used this project to familiarize myself with arduinos during university, utilizing my 3d printer and soldering iron.
Following this project, I explored the creation of my own complete keyboard from scratch.
Or that time when I didn't want to wait several weeks for delivery and went into a deep rabbit hole - consisting of github code snippets and soldering on the board of a zigbee controller - just to flash an alternative firmware.

Sports.^500 Climbing and Biking.

In sport I find the ideal, but also necessary, balance to the digital.
In bouldering I can challenge myself and constantly progress technically and powerfully, just like I do in front of the screen.
Riding a racing bike, in contrast, is the literal example of moving forward. Perfect to let your mind wander and switch off.
Complementary to this, for deceleration I go on hikes through the woods and in the mountains, as long as I'm in nature.

Music.^500 Listening and Mixing.

Music has always been an important part of my life - the soundtrack, so to speak.
When I'm DJing I can be creative, as soon as the music starts I'm happy.
I am not bound to one genre, my selection ranges from house to reggae to funk to jazz to jungle to hiphop.
